Spooktacular Activities Everyone Can Enjoy for Halloween

leadinghomecareclientThis is the time of year when creativity gets to shine! Halloween is a celebration that allows us all to dress up and be anything we’d like, if only for a little while. It’s a celebration of imagination and individuality that everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy.

We understand that sometimes disabilities can feel limiting, but at Leading Home Care, no one is ever left out of fun times. That’s why we are sharing fun and exciting ways, as well as sensory-friendly activities, for everyone to participate in the spooky season without any worries this Halloween.

Go Adventuring to Find Cool Decorations

There is nothing better than spotting a house decorated from top to bottom for the holidays, especially Halloween! So, now is a great time to ask a loved one or caregiver to join you on a quest to find the best decorations in your city or town. Whether you go for a simple walk around your neighborhood or drive a little further, you’ll have a blast spotting the purple and orange lights, fake spider webs draped on trees and bushes, blown-up versions of classic Halloween characters, and more!

Have Some Pumpkin-Themed Fun

Pumpkins are one of the most iconic parts of the Fall and Halloween seasons. You can take a trip to a pumpkin patch and pick one up. You can have fun making a mess, carving and decorating a pumpkin to make a jack-o-lantern. You can also use pumpkins to make some delicious treats! Have fun baking a pie or making your own homemade pumpkin spice lattes. Better yet, ask your caregiver if they have a favorite recipe that they can teach you to make.

Make a Costume

Another fun activity is tackling the challenge of making your very own costume! While you can always buy a costume at the store, it can be exciting to try and see if you can put together a costume with what you already have at home.

Decorate Your Space

So you’ve chosen your costume, but have you thought about dressing up your home as well? How you decorate is up to you: maybe you like to keep it simple with flowers and pumpkins, or perhaps you want to go all out and make people think the Addams Family might just live there. Either way, you are guaranteed to make an impression on your neighbors!

Have a Halloween Movie Night

Finally, you can never underestimate the fun you can have with a movie night! Whether you choose a scary movie or a family-friendly Halloween classic, you will make great memories. So, grab some popcorn and blankets and enjoy a cozy yet spooky night at home!
